Fabulous Flowers!

I am in LOVE with the Fabulous Flowers SU! set!  It has been around awhile, but I just ordered it and it came in the mail yesterday. I got a chance to play around a bit with it today.  Here are some cards I made with the set:

The first card has the big flower in the set stamped in Wild Wasabi, with Chocolate Chip "rocked" around the edges. I stamped the flower 3 times and cut out 3 different sections to layer it. I then inked the entire flower with Versamark and embossed it with clear embossing powder 2 or 3 times to get a super glossy effect!  The paper is from the current mini catalog: Afternoon Tea.
Supplies:
Paper: Wild Wasabi, Chocolate Chip, Soft Sky, Whisper White, Afternoon Tea DP, vellum
Stamps: Fabulous Flowers
Ink: Wild Wasabi, Chocolate Chip, Groovy Guava, Versamark
Accessories: Wild Wasabi ribbon, rhinestone brads, Clear EP,

The second card uses the technique "Emerging Color" which is very neat. (click the link for a tutorial) I basically copied Beate's card, with just a few changes.  The basic idea of the technique is that you stamp in various colors different solid
images.  Then stamp your large image (the flower in this case) with Versamark, and emboss with clear EP.  Next, brayer over the
entire piece of paper that you've stamped with a dark color, which covers where you have already stamped. The embossed part of the card will resist the ink, to reveal the stamped images beneath the large flower.  Super cool!
Supplies:
Paper: Groovy Guava, So Saffron, Soft Sky, Whisper White
Stamps: Fabulous Flowers, Warm Words, Canvas Background
Ink: So Saffron, Soft Sky, Groovy Guava, Purely Pomegrante, Versamark
Accessories: Brayer, Clear EP, Rhinestone Brads, Ticket Corner Punch

The last card is very similar to the first card, in that the large flower has been stamped 3 times, I cut out different sections, embossed and then put it back together.  This sentiment comes with the set, and has been embossed on vellum.  The brad in the flower is a really neat one I found in my stash! The colored matched Soft Sky perfect!
Supplies:
Paper: So Saffron, Groovy Guava, Soft Sky, Purely Pomegrante, Whisper White, Vellum, So Saffron DP
Stamps: Fabulous Flowers, Canvas Background
Ink: Purely Pomegrante, Groovy Guava, Versmark
Accessories: Brads, Ribbon, Clear EP

Birthday Week!

Hi! I spent tonight with my good friend Sara, to have an early mini birthday celebration for me! My actual birthday is on Thursday, but I am having all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out on that day, and tomorrow night I am celebrating early with my family, so tonight was our night! I haven't seen Sara in awhile (shocking, I know!) so it was nice to catch up. I introduced her to Wii Fit, I think she was a bit scared of it to be honest!

I also got a big SU! order today, with a few new stamps sets, so I am looking forward to spending some time playing around with them tomorrow (and hopefully Thurs. and Fri. depending on how I feel!).

I do have one card to share today, that I made yesterday for the BSC33 on Splitcoast. I used Cuppacakeabella for this card. Her dress is paper pieced with the Fancy Pants DP, and the rest of her is colored with SU! markers.  The sentiment is from the MFT set "You Take the Cake". Enjoy, have a fabulous rest of your evening!

Simply Sweet Summer Days

Summer has finally arrived! And with it comes thunderstorms and rain! We've had some crummy weather here the past couple of days, and I hope it clears up soon!  Last Friday was the last day of school, and I made a clean break (although there were some tears), in fact I even went on an interview for a new job this morning. I should hear by the end of the week what will be happening in this new school. Cross your fingers for me!

Last night I made some cards with my new MFT stamp sets. I used the SC180 for this first card using "Here's the Scoop". The image is colored in with SU! markers (still debating those Copics!), and the flower were highlighted with the Spica Glitter pen and an aquapainter. The paper is by Fancy Pants, and I used Prima Flowers with clear baubles over them.

This second card uses the new MFT set "What's Up Cupcake?". I loosely used Jen's weekend sketch for this card, but left off a few things.  The paper is also by Fancy Pants (same as above card). I used a nestability to cut the scalloped square out. I used a Glue Pad to stamp the icing and then sprinkled pink glitter over it to give the glittery look to the cupcakes.

Have a happy Monday, I'm off to check out the latest Bella sketch on Splitcoast.

Big on Baby!

Well, not much stamping has been happening here this week. I've been trying to get things together as I continue another new job search and end the current school year.  I do have a card I made a few weeks ago for my friend Alyssa. She needed some baby cards, and this was the baby boy card I made her. I used the stamp set "Big on Spring" from the current SU! mini catalog.  I colored the image in with Stampin' Up markers, and replaced the heart on the onesie with a star.  The stars are punched out using the big and small SU! star punches.

Supplies:
Stamps: Big on Spring, Sprinkles background
Paper: Certainly Celery, Whisper White, DP So Saffron and Certainly Celery
Ink: Basic Black, SU! Markers
Accessories: Ribbon, Brads, Star Punches, small circle punch

Done!

Done! That's how I am feeling about a few things right now. But, let's keep this to stamping!  Here is a card I made tonight using the BSC33 on Splitcoast. I LOVE these sketches, Jamie always does such a great job, and it gives me a good excuse to use a bella. I used Veggiebella for this card, and her sentiment "you grow girl".  I actually flipped the sketch on it's side to allow enough room for veggiebella to fit.  Her overalls are paper pieced with the BoBunny designer paper.  I paper pierced around the edges of the main image. The ribbon is some that Sara had given me for my bday a few years ago. The color matched perfectly!

Thanks for looking, have a great week!

Happy Father's Day!

Hope every Dad had a great day! Mine has actually been away scuba diving in Florida for the week, but comes home tonight, so it'll be a late and short celebration for him!  I was able to get some stamping in tonight, and participated in 2 challenges: a MFT and Beate's weekend challenge.

My first card was for the MFTSC35 on Splitcoast.  What a lovely sketch! I used a newly released MFT stamp, called "Take a Break" which is part of their new line of stamps called "My Favorite Things Presents...".  I used designer paper by K & Co.  I colored the main image in with SU! Markers, and then added some glimmer to the flowers with a Sakura Stardust pen and an Aquapainter.
The next card was for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #52  it is another lovely sketch!  For this card, I used an Elzybell stamp, called Flower Girl.  I stamped the sentiment on vellum, then put it across her legs, and anchored it down with some clear baubles to hide the adhesive.  I also used my new Cuttlebug embossing folder, which has diamonds, on the green piece of paper.
Thanks for looking, have a great start to the week tomorrow!

MFT Mail!

Today when I got home, a nice surprise was waiting for me...the new My Favorite Things stamps I ordered! I got the new My Favorite Things presents stamps by Annie Lapoint, as well as the Cupcake and ice cream set. I didn't get a chance to play with them tonight, but hopefully I will over the weekend!

I have a card to share that uses a SU! set from the current mini catalog, called Big on Spring. I especially love the onesie in this stamp, it is too cute!

Supplies:
Stamps: Big on Springs, Sprinkles background stamp
Paper: Barely Banana, Whisper White, Prints Pack in Almost Amethyst
Ink: Basic Black, SU! Markers
Accessories: Ribbon, Scallop edge scissors

I've been contemplating this week about investing in some Copics. I see all of the gorgeous examples on other's blogs and feel like I'd like to give them a try. The only thing holding me back is cost and the fact that is seems like they are a bit difficult to use at first (plus I know myself and I'd need them ALL because I am obsessive like that!). Let me know if you have any advice! Have a great Friday!

I love half days!

I just feel like I get so much done when I'm finished working at 1:00!  I had some time this afternoon to stamp, and was able to complete 2 challenges on Splitcoast: a bella and a sketch challenge.

This first card is for BSC32. I used a stamp from the Stamping Bella chichiboulie line. This little fairy is hold a tray of cupcakes.  The little crystal "dots" are from the flower arranging section at Michael's. I got a huge bag on clearance!  I used BasicGrey's new Sugared paper.  For her wings, I used a Sakura Stardust pen, and once I'd colored it on the wings, used an aquapainter to smooth out the sparkles.

My 2nd card is for SC179. I used another chichiboulie fairy from Stamping Bella.  I also used BasicGrey's Sugared line of paper for this card. I really like how this sketch turned out, I love the circle right in the center of the card!

Our heatwave is supposed to break tomorrow, so hopefully it will be a bit more enjoyable at school!

Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot!

Whew! What a day! 100 degree temperatures all day, plus when I got home, the power was out! We just got it back on about an hour ago, and boy was I excited. I ran around the house putting all of the air conditioners on.  Tomorrow is supposed to be even worse, in fact my school is having an early dismissal in preparation for the intense temperatures! I feel so bad for the kids, it was like a sauna all day in our classroom with no relief at all.  I keep telling myself, one more day until the heatwave breaks a little...

This card is a tent-topper card that I created a few weeks ago. It uses bubblebella, who is cut out of a Marvy Uchida Circle Scallop punch, and then half mounted on the smaller sized card.

Supplies:
Stamps: bubblebella, "relax" by Amuse
Paper:  Making Memories DP, Groovy Guava, Wild Wasabi, Shimmer cardstock
Ink: Archival Black, Wild Wasabi
Accessories: Ribbon, Rhinestone Brads, Marvy Uchida circle scallop punches, aquapainter, crystal effects.

PS: I'm still loving my Wii! I didn't get to play it on Saturday, and when I went to play yesterday, it asked me if I was too busy to exercise the day before! :) Wow is it smart, or what?!

Wii Heaven!

Woohoo! I got an early birthday present today from my older brother. Over Memorial Day weekend, he brought over the Wii Fit for us to play and I fell in love! I mentioned how much I liked it and he said if he saw it anywhere (it is HIGH demand!) he'd pick it up for me for my birthday. Well, today was the day, and I came home to find it on the kitchen table! I really love it for the yoga and the fitness games. I'm really enjoying it!

This is a card that I made last week for my brother's gf who had her wisdom teeth removed. I used the MFT set Serenity Now, and paper pieced the girl's shirt using this designer paper. I don't really remember my supplies, so I don't have a list to share today.

Enjoy your weekend, we're going to picnic tomorrow at a local state park (the weather is supposed to be 95 degrees!).

A Little Love for Stampin! Up!

Wow, I feel like I hardly use my SU! stamps anymore. I always seem to reach for Bellas or MFT, that I fear my SU! stamps are being neglected.  Tonight, I reached for "Always" to make some Anniversary cards for a friend who requested a few.  I chose brown and pink for the color scheme because it seems lovey dovey!  I colored the heart in with my markers, and then "huffed" on the stamp to reactivate the color, and stamped as normal.  I love how you can get different colors on one stamp with this technique!

Supplies:
Stamps: Always, Michael's $ Sentiment
Paper: Pretty in Pink, Purely Pomegrante, CTMH paper pack
Ink: Purely Pomegrante, Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Ribbon, Nestabilities, Pop Dots

I probably won't be able to post for the next 2 days because I have a few parties to attend the next few nights!  Enjoy your week!

Another Sketch Challenge!

Today is Monday, and that means there is another Bella Sketch challenge on splitcoast!  Some weeks, I feel like I live for these challenges because of my Bella and sketch love!  I pulled out my most favorite Bella of all to use on my card, Tinkerbella! I would suggest to anyone new to Bellas to most definitely get Tinkerbella. She is just adorable!
I used lots of inking, and punches on my card. I love the vintage-ish look the inking of the edge of the paper gives the card.

Supplies:
Stamps: Tinkerbella by Stamping Bella, Warm Words
Paper: Taken with Teal, Creamy Caramel, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Groovy Guava, Prima DP (Breathe collection)
Ink: Archival Black, reinkers to color with
Accesories: Nestabilites, brads, Small and Large Star Punch, Paper Piercer

Tomorrow is a field trip for my class. We are going to see Ferdinand the Bull as a puppet show at a local community college. The kids then have a pizza party in the afternoon to celebrate the $ we raised as a grade for the Seeing Eye Dog...should be a low-key day!

Weekend is almost gone!

Wow, it's Sunday night already!  That means...another week is about to begin. It'll be a busy one for me, I have a Retirement party on Wed. night, and then a big book club end of the year bash on Thurs. night.

I want to say hello to a new reader of my blog, my cousin Jen! She is a new stamper, and has been scrapbooking for a little while. Hi Jen!
Onto some stamping...I've got 2 things to share today.
The first card uses Jen's Sketch for you to try
for this weekend. I used cosmobella for the card, along with some new Prima paper I picked up at Michael's yesterday.
Supplies:
Stamps: cosmobella & cheers by Stamping Bella
Paper: Prima "Sasha" collection, Very Vanilla, Certainly Celery, Cameo Coral
Ink: Archival Black, SU! Markers
Accessories: Ribbon, Brads, Square Nestabilities, Stickles, Paper Piercer, Word Window Punch

The next card is one I made a set of for a friend at work. Her son just got engaged, and she wanted to give his fiance some cards to send as thank-yous, or general cards. It was her idea to add some kind of tulle or ribbon to the skirt, and I took it from there! I made her 10 of these cards to give to her future daughter-in-law.
Supplies:
Stamps: Daintybella
Paper: Pretty in Pink, White, So Saffron, Vellum
Ink: Archival Black, SU! Markers
Accessories: Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, Ribbon, Primas, Spica Glitter Pen, Anna Griffin Ribbon Tape, Corner Rounder
